Rachel | Sanderson High School Senior Portraits | Raleigh, NC
Rachel, you are wonderfully and beautifully made. This gorgeous kind-hearted senior, Rachel, is a gifted vocalist and sang in the Spartan Sandpipers, a competitive vocal ensemble at Sanderson High School. Her senior portrait session was in March, the week before the Corona virus pandemic intensified, so we didn’t yet realize that most of the events celebrating her senior year would be cancelled. Thankfully we captured beautiful images of Rachel absolutely glowing in her prom dress, since her Senior Prom was cancelled.
Fast forward two months and Rachel was in for a BIG surprise! Sweet 7 year old Curtis surprised his babysitter Rachel with a DIY mini Prom in his backyard that included flowers, dinner, and dancing (complete with a pool noodle to keep them 6 feet apart!). Does it get any sweeter than that during a global pandemic? This amazing, uplifting story was discovered by the local Raleigh news, basically went viral, and eventually ended up on The Kelly Clarkson Show!! It speaks volumes that Rachel made such a positive impact on her 7 year old friend Curtis that he went ALL OUT to create a surprise prom for them to enjoy together.
It was quite a tough spring for Rachel and this Class of 2020, but there were also many special, joy-filled memories made IN SPITE OF the Coronavirus and the quarantine, and this surprise prom is one of my favorites!
This gorgeous girl is heading to East Carolina University (just like her Dad!) in the fall and plans to attend dental school. Cheers to Rachel and the Class of 2020!
